PPPP: start every crisis meeting with the four Ps
Before escalating, and at the start of every incident, emergency or crisis meeting, ground the team in four questions. PPPP comes before decision tools such as OODA or Situation, Analysis, Decision, and works for regular meetings too.
PurposeWhat must we achieve that was not possible before? Why escalate, what outcome do we want, and is it within our mandate?
PrioritiesWhat comes first, and what can wait?
PeopleIs the right expertise at the table? Can some people go home now to take over later? Can everyone act objectively, without personal ties to the situation?
ProcessHow do we run this meeting? Short cycles of 20 to 40 minutes, logging and plotting, no phones, and clear rules for urgent interruptions.
